Pleasure Passed was created from page 1 in GreenWillow by B.J Chute, published in 1956. Though only a few words, this one reminded me that joy is not new or ever gone forever. Throughout history, even centuries ago, humans felt joy deeply, and it still echoes today.
These are blackout poems made from actual book pages I selected from novels and reimagined on fabric. I used unbleached cotton canvas, black cotton, and HTV to recreate the look and feel of classic blackout poetry, but in textile form! It’s been such a fun process, and I’m really proud (and a little giddy) to share them.
